Installation Instructions
Fitting your Noble Steed screen protector is a straightforward DIY job. No drilling, no tools, and about ten minutes a window.
These instructions cover both the Deluxe (2.5mm marine grade aluminium) and the Everyday (3mm HDPE) screen protectors. The material makes no difference to the installation — what matters is the size, because the two sizes fix in slightly different ways.

Small — 350mm x 430mm
Fixed with 3M double‑sided tape already applied to three sides — top, bottom and right‑hand edge. Nothing else to fit.

You will need
- Isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits
- A clean, lint‑free cloth
- Ten minutes per window
Conditions
- Fit above 15°C — 3M tape will not bond properly in the cold
- Work in the shade, on a dry surface
- Allow 24 hours before travelling for the adhesive to reach full strength
Small Screen Protector — 350mm x 430mm
Tape mount. Four steps.
Your Small protector arrives with 3M double‑sided tape already applied to three edges — top, bottom and the right‑hand side — on the back of the panel. The third strip down the side adds strength and stops the panel flexing or lifting at the edge. There are no separate parts to fit — clean, peel, position, press.
Clean the mounting area
Work out where the panel will sit and identify the flat area of the window frame that the tape will bond to — remember the tape runs along three edges, so clean down the right‑hand side as well as the top and bottom. In the photo the area is marked out with yellow tape.
Wipe that area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits and a lint‑free cloth to remove dust, wax, polish and road grime. Let it dry completely before you go any further.
Peel the tape liners
Turn the panel over. You will see strips of red‑backed 3M tape along three edges — the top, the bottom and the right‑hand side.
Peel the red liner off all three strips to expose the adhesive. Hold the panel by its edges from here on and do not touch the sticky surface — finger oil will weaken the bond.
Align from the top, then press and hold
Start at the top and align the panel before anything touches down. Get the top edge square and level with the window frame, then lower the bottom into place and bring the right‑hand edge in last.
Once it is where you want it, push firmly and hold for 30 seconds on each side to achieve full adhesion. Work along the full length of all three tape strips — top, bottom and side — not just the corners.
Repeat and you're done
Fit the protector to the second window the same way.
Leave the float standing for 24 hours before travelling so the adhesive reaches full strength. Your flyscreens are now protected, with airflow and visibility unchanged.
Large Screen Protector — 330mm x 595mm
Fixing angle mount. Five steps.
The Large protector is supplied with four fixing angles, each with 3M tape underneath. The angles attach to the back of the protector and then fix to the window frame. The bottom pair goes on first — that is what sets the height and holds the panel while you secure the top.
Prepare the window
Start with the window as it comes — flyscreen in place and the window bars in position. The protector fits over the flyscreen half of the window.
Clean the frame where the fixing angles will bond, using isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits, and let it dry. Hold the panel up first to check how it will sit and where the four angles need to land.
Lay out the four fixing angles
Your Large protector comes with four black fixing angles. Each one has 3M VHB tape on both faces — one face bonds to the screen, the other to the window frame.
Lay all four out before you start so you're not fumbling with liners one‑handed later. Two are for the bottom of the panel, two for the top.
Fit the bottom angles first
Stick the bottom angles onto the screen first, making sure each angle is flush with the bottom edge of the screen. Get this right — it sets the height of the whole panel.
With both bottom angles on the panel, expose the second sticky face, then push in and down to secure the bottom of the panel to the window frame. The panel will now stand on its own while you do the top.
Secure the top
With the bottom holding the panel, fit the two top angles. Check the panel is sitting square and vertical before committing.
Remove the remaining tape covers and push into place at the top of the screen to fully secure the panel. Press each angle firmly and hold for 30 seconds.
Mission complete
Run your hand down the edges to check every angle is fully seated, then repeat on the second window.
Leave the float standing for 24 hours before travelling. Your flyscreen is now protected from rubbing, pawing and leaning, with full airflow and visibility for your horse.
Care and troubleshooting
Looking after your protector
- Wash with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
- No abrasive pads, solvents or high‑pressure washers — they will mark the powder coat and can lift the tape.
- Check the fixings at the start of each season and give each one a firm press.
If the tape isn't holding
- Nine times out of ten the surface wasn't clean or dry enough, or it was fitted below 15°C.
- Remove the panel, clean both surfaces back with isopropyl alcohol, and refit with fresh 3M VHB tape.
